Past simple ( I did )

Rule 1:- Past simple:- In this tense the work or action finishes in the past.

Structure:- S + V2 + O

Example:-

1. I tried. मैंने कोशिश की।
2. I wanted to meet him.मैं उससे मिलना चाहता था।
3. I went to the cinema three times last week. मैं पिछले हफ्ते तीन बार सिनेमा देखने गया।
4. It was cold, so I shut the window. ठंड थी, इसलिए मैंने खिड़की बंद कर दी।

Rule 3:- We use did to make questions and negative sentences:

I	enjoyed
They	saw
They	went

Did	you	enjoy?
Did	she	see?
Did	they	go?

I	didn't	enjoy.
She	didn't	see.
They	didn't	go.

1. I didn't know how to drive car. मुझे कार चलाना नहीं आता था।
2. I didn’t buy anything because I didn’t have any money. मैंने कुछ नहीं खरीदा क्योंकि मेरे पास पैसे नहीं थे।
3. How many people did they invite to the wedding? उन्होंने शादी में कितने लोगों को आमंत्रित किया?
4. I wasn’t hungry, so I didn’t eat anything. मुझे भूख नहीं थी, इसलिए मैंने कुछ नहीं खाया। 
5. Did you go out last night or were you too tired? क्या आप कल रात बाहर गए थे या आप बहुत थके हुए थे? 

Rule 3:- We use the past simple with ago/ yesterday/ the day before yesterday/ yesterday morning/ last night/ last week/ last month/  last year/ the other day/ in 2008/ in April 2010

1. She came here the other day. वह दूसरे दिन यहाँ आई थी।
2. I completed his work last night. मैंने कल रात अपना काम पूरा किया।
